My book, Wanda and Winky,  is a poetic telling of the true story of two elephant friends who lived at the Detroit Zoo. In 2005, in a great humanitarian gesture, Executive Director Ron Kagan sent the pachyderm pair off to live in freedom at the Performing Animals Welfare Society (PAWS) in San Andreas, California.

Through this story, the reader learns of the sadness of captivity for elephants and the happiness of freedom. Additionally, factual information is provided to educate the learner about how we all can help these gentle, intelligent creatures.

Linda was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan where she taught for 15 years. She has a Masters Degree in Reading and a Masters Degree in Library and Information Science, both from Wayne State University. Linda completed her 39 year education career in the Walled Lake Consolidated School District as the School Library Media Specialist. It was through teaching and librarianship that Linda developed a love of children''s literature.
